Aloysius Lim self initiated his photography skills shooting local gigs in 2003 before honing his skills further to shoot international acts. After several years of maintaining fighter jets, he decided to pursue his passion and the shift to photography was probably the best move he made. His talent and reputation has spread and he has not only earned for himself an impressive portfolio of astounding and breath-taking gig photographs but cultivated strong working friendships with many well respected bands. His first big break was in 2006 when he was given the opportunity to shoot sensational Scottish band, Franz Ferdinand. He has gone on to shoot established bands – Coldplay, Green Day, Jason Mraz, The Police – and produced many hit wonders at festivals – Womad, Baybeats and SingFest. Aloysius’ has also worked with various music labels, magazines, concert venues and promoters.
4 years into the business, Aloysius is now highly sought after and well respected as a gig photography maestro. He has brought gig photography to a brand new level introducing style and character of a higher calibre sparking a furor among many in the arena of gig photography as he continues to inspire many young budding photographers.
Aloysius is now a professional and full time wedding photographer at 39 East Photography who loves to shoot the occassional rock shows. When he isn’t behind the camera, he loves spending time with his beautiful wife and 2 year old daughter.
